Hear Me Out

You know I wouldn’t ring you unless it felt urgent. Me, ever the minimalist in the beauty department, sharing tried-and-true picks while they’re on sale feels pressing enough. I waltzed into Sephora two weeks ago and paid full price for most of these, it was time to restock and hindsight is 20/20 especially with a good mascara (which, ironically, I buy exclusively at the drug store). I’ll leave skincare recommendations to the experts but below are the everyday beauty products I’m married to.

  1. My evening routine was forever simplified when I tried a sample of this Farmacy Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm. It gently takes everything off, including stubborn SPF and eye makeup, and cleanses at the same time. There’s a reason it has 606 five star reviews.

  2. Long story short, I have been a slave to Tata Harper’s $140 Diamond Illuminating Moisturizer for years (sadly not on sale!). It gives the most perfect sun kissed glow and, Like all can’t-live-without products, it has become hard to come by and sephora doesn’t carry it anymore. In December I went to a “favorite things” party and came home with the viral Saie Glowy super gel Illuminator. Mixed with or layered on top of your moisturizer, The Roseglow is almost an exact match of the Tata one. I also relied on the Starglow finish to get me through the winter months when I was ghastly pale. Highly recommend if you enjoy a dewy look.

  3. For full, natural looking eyebrows, nothing has compared to this $13 waxy brow pencil (I’ll switch between Nutmeg Brown and Rich Chestnut for day or night looks). To laminate the brows up and hold them in place all day, this Patrick Ta clear gel is just the ticket.

  4. My friend recommended this Wow Dream Coat Spray for Frizzy Hair so I began using it recently and it really does make blowing out your hair worth it with its smoothing power. I say this as someone with cotton candy-textured locks so you can trust my opinion on this sensitive matter. Nothing will replace a keratin treatment but for a topical product, five stars.

  5. My favorite lip product of the last decade: a smooth-to-apply wet lip color in the most flattering hues (I’m partial to Baby Rose & Malibu). It’s the perfect, pretty tint on its own for a workout class or grocery run or layered on top of your lipstick for a glossier pop.
